I migrated from UK to Bangalore in 1975 at the age of 25 . 30 yrs hence I feel saddened that the the pensioners paradise this was is now the the most chaotic fast paced city travelling at the speed of snail. Yet every one tries to jump, jostle, & show their rage to their fellow citizens & actually spare the Government.
Everyone loves the place but spares no time to make it a better city to live in.Just one guy called Ramesh Ramanathan ( UK returned) made an earnest attempt at changing the city but no one from public supported him enough & our corporators(mostly corrupt & inefficient) saw to it that he gets no listening.
Lets do some introspection : Why is it that the worst traffic offenders are educated??? How come the same people tuck their tails & obey rules in Europe & US. That means that we have become selfish & care to hoots about the society or the surroundings.
Most traffic woes are due to indiscipline & lack of knowledge on simple traffic rues. I for one have lived & driven in UK & one must admire the courtesy & driving skills of drivers there even where there are no traffic police. In fact in both UK & Germany Traffic police are a rarity to see. Most of the roads in their cities are much more narrower than the ones in Bangalore & yet traffic moves on, albeit sllowly but in a very disciplined way. And about HONKING, We must be the only drivers who drive with horns rather than with our skills.
Ultimately Bangalore has become chaotic only due to the indiscipline traffic & very poor civic sense among EDUCATED .
So lets Pledge to
Get proper driving licence by learning to drive correctly & courteously. Do not bribe &
get a licence. You will only end up creating more Chaos & adding to the statisticians
death /accident list on the road.
Please DONT HONK ( very rarely) Thats the language of MORONS (MICO JARGON)
Pls obey simple rules Like give way to traffic on your right, .Do not keep jumping lanes. Do not block intersections when you know the traffic ahead of you is not moving. Dont use high beam of headlights.
Lets sort our garbage & dispose sensibly.
Lets be more proactive & take the Govt Babus to task
With these simple adherence Bangalore can regain its past glory
