Another work holiday permitted by Boss. God Bless him, this time to Bangkok. All the friends and logic was saying to go there alone but this time I towed along my family determined to find something for my little one in Bangkok. We reached Bangkok early in the morning on March 17th.
Cleared immigration, claimed luggage, breeze through the customs within 45 min on road to Sukhumvit. Day one and two was all meetings, presentations and trainings for me and better half and little princess went for shopping and rested at hotel’s pool. Fun began from third day. Off we went to Dream world, closest you can get to Disneyland in Thailand.
Dream World: 1000 baht/person entry includes hotel transfers, lunch and*unlimited rides. Just book it through your hotel counter. Highlights are
Snow town:
*Imagine making snow man and playing with snow balls and sledge in sub zero temperature in tropical Bangkok. We had a gala time there.
Roller Coaster: I don’t remember the name but it of type where you sit on a chair with your legs hanging in the air. Pure thrill is the feeling you will get once you are on it.
Plus couple of other rides which will make you adrenaline pumping. Add to it there is a fairy land where you will get to see boot house, Cinderella carriage, house of seven dwarfs and beanstalk Giant house. My daughter was truly amazed in the fairy land.
We enjoyed all the rides to the hilt along with an average Indian lunch. Overall it was a very good experience. One thing I would like to mention is to beat the heat they had installed numerous fan, popularly known as ‘farrattas’ in north India, but trick was they were also spraying atomized water droplets. Another heavenly experience in blistering Bangkok heat and humidity.
Second day was dedicated to MBK and Siam Paragon two of biggest shopping destinations in Bangkok, while MBK is bargainer’s paradise, Siam Paragon is on other side of spectrum, truly a connoisseur’s delight. Just catch a sky train to Siam central station. Siam paragon is bang on station and for MBK ask for directions it is popular destination.
Did some shopping from MBK, Robinsons and window shopped at Siam Paragon’s designer showrooms then moved on to highlight of the day visit to the basement of Siam Paragon, which houses Ocean World, biggest marine aquarium in Asia.
Entry for ocean world is 750 bhat for adults and 650 bhats for kids below a certain height. Tickets include ride on glass bottom boat, 4D movie show, a 22oz Pepsi and ice cream. It is home to some of the rare sea creatures like giant crab, wolf eel, sandpiper shark, giant grouper fish (it is only predators shark’s know, yes they feed on baby sharks).
Although overall experience was excellent, easily the highlight of the trip, it is one of the best aquarium I have ever visited, I think better than what we saw KL and 10 times better than Pattaya under water world. But ride on glass bottom boat was bit disappointing as it lasted only for 10 minutes same was 4D movie show which was also for 10 min, but it was 10 minutes filled with shrieks and excitement, I wish show could be at least last for 30 min.
Did some souvenir shopping on way back from summit night market. Next day we were off to Pattaya. So I was able to find something of interest for my little one in so called bachelor’s paradise now to next mission find something for her in Pattaya for which there is a saying which goes like this ‘ Good men go to Heaven, Bad boys visit Pattaya. Continued further in Pattaya section.
