I read one Mr Olivers comments on the good customer service he received from Bangoes.com after having ordered a box of alphonso mangoes from this site -
Though his review was updated in 2006. I went ahead and ordered a box of alphonso in May start this year. The mangoes reached me in approx 6 days. I was a little skeptical on E Retailing of perishables but tried my luck.
The mangoes did not ripen in the next 7 days even.. and worse, they had started to have signs on rotting already with the tip of some mangoes going soft and black... After another 2/3 odd days, 5 mangoes were rotten and the others yet unripe but rotting.
Over a period of next 5 odd days, all I did was dispose mango/s, try to retrieve some sensible consumable portion of the other mangoes and disposing the rest... Not even one mango in the whole lot was up to the mark/claims made by the site. Thank god it was ordered for personal consumption
and not gifted. Imagine the plight/disgust of the one it would have been
ordered for. needless to say, I had to also take in the gyaan from my family
members on the foolhardiness of ordering something so expensive online when a
good variety was available around home at less than half the price.. This was
indeed the costliest and also the most rotten lot I ordered in this season...
The exercise of going through it for 15+ days was painful - Unlike Mr Oliver
who could dispose the lot immediately on receipt.
A bigger surprise greeted me when I wrote to customer care not once but twice
but there was absolutely no response at all - unlike the response received by
Mr Oliver from Mr Bang. All I got in my inbox more than a week later was
a mass mail from the site on the availability of kesar mangoes this time.. The
site runs on the sell it + forget it happened funda, I guess. anyone wishing
to order from the site, may please do it despite the facts stated in this post.
All I can do is post it on as many e-retailing sites so that the others do not
go through what I went through and try to forget the bad experience.
