I admit that I am remembering mouthshut, only when I have a bad experience with certain service. I am also in the service industry and may be that is the reason:-) I must say that, BoB, Kalamassery, Cochin branch where I have personal and current accounts, has delivered good service so far. It may be because I have a neighbour working in the branch.
They sanctioned car loan in just 48 hours time.
They opened current account in just 48 hours time.
The personal account was opened in just 2 hours time, for me and my family members.
Despite of all these good and fast services, I recently had a issue with them for an amount of Rs. 85. I am writing this review to know your views on this.
I submitted a A/C payee cheque to BoB for which the cheque collector gave me the counterfoil with the BoB Seal on it. Neither did I, nor the person who collected the cheque noticed the fact that the cheque had the bank specific account number mentioned in it, which can be credited on my citibank to which the cheque was issued to.
It was only when the cheque bounced with the reason, "crossed to two banks", both of us had noticed. However they charged me Rs. 85 despite the fact that I maintain very good balance with them in my savings account itself for which they are earning more than 10 times of the bouncing charge.
If they knew they it would be bouncing, couldnt the cheque collector in the branch mention that before accepting the cheque and giving back the counterfoil to me? For a mistake of both of us, they fined me!
I know their cheque bouncing charges are among the lowest, but why do RBI gives a bank discretion of fixing the cheque bouncing charges. Cant that be a fixed amount for all banks?
Anyway I am thinking about minimizing the SB balances I have with them as my protest for the charge.
I am not sure about other branches, of BoB, but the branch for which I am having account with is good. This incident makes me think about the BoB as a whole though.
