I used to visit this outlet often. On 12th Jan 2025, total 4 members of my family(including 1 child) visited the outlet for lunch. This time, menu items were reduced(no welcome drink, no chef’s special item), but the pricing remained fixed at INR999/- per head plus GST and service charges. It was all quantity, no quality. The earlier staff were replaced. Half-cooked chicken were served on the table oven without any seasoned masala. Menu items were also reduced at the buffet. Cost-cutting was readily visible. In the buffet too, the food had no taste, and there were only bones in the container containing red meat. Loud music was played, creating the mood of a fish market.
I brought all of this to the attention of the staff, who stated that the reduction of menu items is a management decision. After receiving complaints, the loud music was turned down. I could observe other customers being dissatisfied with the food quality. Service charges of 5% were included in the bill. On July 4, the Central Consumer Protection Authority(CCPA) released instructions stating that no hotel or restaurant shall add a service charge to the bill automatically or by default, and that the service charge shall not be collected from customers under any other name.13 Apr 2023. No one listened when I protested. There was no after-meal mouth freshener mint.
I was quite astonished by all of this! I’ll write to statutory authorities about this outlet levying service charges without my consent.
I am cautioning public that they dont have to pay service charge in restaurants, unless until agreed with the restaurant. It is not the amount, but the non compliance.
A new outlet of Barbeque nation opened recently at Vile parle, east, Mumbai. That too is average. Quality has declined.
At Rs.4200/-( as per my bill), better quality food can be had at decent restaurants in Mumbai.
After this experience, I decided that this would be my last visit to Barbeque nation. Not recommended if you desire to have quality food.
