One of the worst place to land up

BARC, nam bade aur darshan khote.

Every year they recruit 100 talented engineers and scientists without knowing themseleves what work is to be assigned to them. They are recruited simply to run DAE training school and to dump them thereafter. A candidate has to undergo one year rigorous training that has got nothing to do with his major. To join training school you need to sign a 4 year bond without knowing where are you going to be placed after training, i.e. in so called research(very few guys get a research opportunity really), project development(most of the chllenging part is done by hired consultants) or simply plant operation. The training is utter non-sense and just cram and omit out game like high school standard social science exam, on the basis of performance in this system for one year you’ll be placed somewhere you don’t know yourself.

Posting are decided by Trombay council and each group wants to take more and more candidates simply to increase their head count. Your boss doesn’t know himself why are you there. This is the unfortunately real condition of so called most prestigious research institute of India. If you want to see a good example of wastage of taxpayer’s money, I don’t find a place better than BARC.

No doubt BARC hosts some very talented brains of the country and one out of ten people get good work, but why are they dumping rest of nine candidates in junkyard without any reason. Why are they recruiting more than hundred people every year when there are no work requirements for them. Those candidates can go elsewhere and excel outside. For the progress and welfare of the country top brains must join these institutes but because of pathetic environment if they desert BARC and leave for other places, blames goes to BARC.

The work you are assigned has again nothing to do wit you major or training stuff, most of the time it can’t be even called a tecnical work, leave the chellenging part. Promotions are based on some weired interviews and politics again not on the basis of your performance in the dept.

My serious call to top post holders in BARC, do something otherwise good people will keep on leaving BARC. Already most of the motivated peple are leaving this place as soon as the bond period gets over.
