I recently received an sms from barclay’s bank credit card division, offering 5% cash back on spends over rs.7500/- However, it came with a rider. If I do not use the card at all, between now and 31st august 2010, penalty charges would apply. I am the owner of multiple other credit cards but in all my 15 years of card usage, I have never received such a threat.
I am a gold card holder of barclay’s. Is this threat legal? Can I take any action against them? I invite others who have received similar smses to voice their opinion. Has any other credit card company come out with similar threats?
