If you are in mood for a nice decen coffee and nothing else, Barista is for you, but the snacks are overpriced and not so good for quality.
The sandwiches are dull, the cakes just ok, and do stay away from the donuts! Like their counterpart Cafe Coffee day, Barista believes in microwaving the donut whcih is the worse thing ever as the icing will be sticky and burn your tongue, and the donut properly unedible after 2 minutes as the microwaving will prompt any moisture from going out of it. You can still ask them not to microwave it, but you will soon realise that your donut isnt fresh and comes straight out of a fridge.
Hubby and I must have tried all their goodies, but none really cut it, the most passable are probably the Black Forrest cake(safe) and Chocochips Muffin(ultra safe). One branch in Koramangala in Bangalore has a nice tasting apple pie though.
They have a few speciality coffees worth trying, the safe cappucino or latte does deliver, and their range of cold coffees is interesting.
In some of their branches the music is too loud for my taste, and in other its blissfully quiet. The most scenic one Ive been to is the one bordering Besant Beach in Chennai, its a small outlet, but they have a few chairs outside and the indoor sitting is done in a way that all the table are place in front of a bay windo overlooking the ocean, the nicest place to go for a pre-breakfast cup after a morning walk on the beach.
