My Mantra for Everyday Living

It may appear to many readers out there that I am exaggerating or hyping the issue, but I swear all this is true — one masterpiece of a song on this fascinating album has become my creed, my faith, and my mantra for each day of my life. Okay, I know that sounds awfully over-dramatised, especially when one is talking about a pop song, but what can I do — it’s true. Honest.

I stumbled upon this album largely by accident. I freelance as a content writer for a music portal. In view of the fact that a lot was being written about Sanjo and Chandrani all over the Internet, my Editor asked me to get an interview with the duo (I am Delhi-based and so are Sanjo and Chandrani). As part of my subject research, I naturally obtained a copy of the album (Barson Huey). I listened to the first three songs and had enough ideas to start making an outline for my proposed article. As I wrote, I kept the cassette playing on as background music. Side-A ended, and I flipped the cassette over and continued with my writing. The second song on Side-B began playing… and I was blown away.

The song, Sapno Ka Ek Shahar, opens with a burst of melodious, highly energetic strumming on a guitar backed by the high notes of a mandolin. And then the vocals begin, with force, feeling and empathy, yet mellow and soothing. Both artistes sound their best in this song. I immediately found myself relaxing — the song automatically has a de-stressing effect on the listener. As my mind expanded and settled down, I started paying attention to the https://lyrics. And that’s when I was bowled over.

After rewinding and listening to this song some five times over, I logged onto the Net, went to the artistes’ website ( http://www.musicbysanjo.com) and downloaded the https://lyrics. I could write about the many different ways in which various lines/stanzas have affected my outlook and philosophy, but I will leave the readers to interpret the lyrics on their own. I am sure like all great poetry and songs, this masterpiece will hold different connotations for different people.

SAPNO KA EK SHAHAR

SAPNO KA EK SHAHAR

AANKHON MEIN SAJA KAR

AANKHEIN YEH BANDH KAR LO

PHIR DEKHO DUNIYA KO

JAB BHI TUM CHAAHOGE

ANDHERE GUM HONGE

SURAJ KI CHAAHAT KARO

PHIR DEKHO DUNIYA KO

AANKHEIN YEH BANDH KAR LO...

BEETA HUA KAL

JO AB NAA RAHAA

YAADON MEIN KHO JAANE DO

BEH JAAYENGE

JO BHI HAI SAARE GHUM

UN LAMHO KO JAANE DO

AANSOO YEH BEHNE DO

PALKO SE GIRNE DO

SAPNO SE AANKHEIN BHARO

PHIR DEKHO DUNIYA KO

AANKHEIN YEH BANDH KAR LO...

MIL JAATI HAI RAAHEIN

KAT JAATI HAI RAATEIN

DIL MEIN TUM AASHA BHARO

SACH KAR DO SAPNO KO

REKHAO KA HAI

YEH KISSA AGAR

SAPNA KOI IN MEIN LIKHO

AANKHON MEIN

IN KO SAJAAYE RAKHO

HAATHON MEIN KHONE NAA DO

MUSHKIL AAYE THO KYA

BAADAL CHHAAYE THO KYA

BAADAL SE AAGEY CHALO

PHIR DEKHO DUNIYA KO

AANKHEIN YEH BANDH KAR LO...

SAPNO KA EK SHAHAR...

Wow!

I am giving this album a five star rating but if I could, I would give the song a ten-star rating!
