One leaves a viewing of Bhawandar with a sense of disappointment, not because of the film but because what would have happened.
The story is of Saavri Devi who is raped by upper caste people in Rajasthan and then by society which denied her justice again and again.
The saddest part is that the film is made for foreign viewers and festival visits and also the late night elite circuit.
There are many scenes which are so bad for eg. an extra long sequence of A policeman masturbating on Saavri Devi’s ghaghra, a sequence where the women police constables say to her that she is indeed a lucky person to have three men in one night, while all she could afford in last few years was one.
The overstretched rape sequence was unnecessary, so the scene which shows Saavri’s thighs.
The performance is average.
