Last week end, I had the oppurtunity to take my family for a lunch. We are proud to adjudge ourselves as great connoisseurs of food. As we had tried out all famous south indian restaurants like Anjappar, Ponnusamy, Velu Military, this time we prefered to look beyond south indian taste.
After a long search and shortlistings with the help of askLaila.com, we went for Bay Leaf in Cathedral Road, behind Gangotri Sweets, opposite to Stella maris College in Chennai.
It was a small restaurant with 7 tables but neatly maintained with less interiors. I presume this is run by a Bengali family. All the waiters in the restaurant looked like bengali. They were kind too. After a long wait outside, we managed to get a table to dine. The menu book is neatly designed and apt. We choose Bayleaf Raan and Mutton gravy with Steam rice etc.
With out much wait, we received the food. All items tasted with sweetness. Remember its a bengali food. So all the items I think may taste sweet. The food taste good. The Romali Rotti we ordered was very delicious and soft. We enjoyed every bit of non - Veg dishes, we ordered. Bay Leaf - Raan seems to be more for two of us, I think it can be taken for four people. The price list is also very reasonable. We got a cheque of Rs. 700/-, apart from this they were also running some promotional offers for Citibank cards.
On the whole, this place is for bengali food lovers, where the prices are reasonable and and tasty.
P.S:
After we reached home, we had a portion of curd rice to fill our stomach in the night.:)
Though the food is good, we still felt hungry.may be we are south indians! Curd rice helped us.
