Hopeless service, arrogant behaviour and dealing

I booked Marriott Ahmedabad for my conference from 6th to 9th March 2019. We negotiated per day room charges and certain guarantee of room nights. I checked in on 4th March and booked till 11th March a room for myself. Due to death in family I had to cut short my stay and I left hotel on 9th. This was informed to Marriott in writing in advance. After conference my office settled the bill in good faith and paid for room for period 9th and 10th March when I had not stayed on these dates.


Later when this mistake was discovered we asked Marriott to refund the excess charges which they have refused on various grounds. My point is that we have exceeded guaranteed room nights, we had per day rate so why will Marriot not refund excess amount that has been charged.


They messed up services during the conference and no senior person was available to address it. You keep calling the person in charge and find that phones are busy invariably and they do not have courtesy to call back as well. In a conference no matter how deep and meticulously you drill down the contract there are some gray areas and Marriott knows how to make best out of it.


Ahmedabad does not have large banquet as Marriott so they can afford to behave like a monopolist but time will not be far that competition will pull them down to earth.


Over all a very disappointing experience.
