Changing views with changing times

In the world of News channels that are mushrooming by the day, and with increasing competition for a share of its viewers, BBC I think still holds its sway in most opinion polls. Seen as a news channel which has over the last so many years set standards for other news channels to follow, is now seen changing to keep up with the ever changing world scenario.

From being Britain centric it was compelled to change to be more accepted by the world viewers. BBC does have an excellent news format, and does cover a lot of other subjects that sustain the viewers interest. The travel section it covers does make an earnest effort to unravel some excellent parts of the world virtually unknown to most.I would rate it to be the very best here.

It has lost out on the excellent and honest coverage on Asia and india in particular, by going different ways with Mark Tully. With his exit the continent lost a true friend who made an effort to show it in its true colours.

With the changing equations of the world, and now that Britain and America has become almost natural allies in most things that are happening around the world, BBC seems to have lost their originality and seem to slowly falling in the american trap. Lets all hope that it remains the way it had always been and not become a mere extension of the CNN.
