This is good news - BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP is a nostalgic entertainer! Bachchan fans, it is time to celebrate the great actor once again. He had survived many a tides challenging the fate and age to entertain many a crores across the globe. Here he does it again...and the spirit survives!!
BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP is a simple old story but presented in a refreshing way.
ACP (Sonu Sood) is a courageous officer who is determined to clean the city from the gangsters. He has killed many a goons in many encounters. The gang leader (Prakash Raj) is desperately trying to get a sharp shooter to kill the ACP. Arrives Vijju (Amitab Bachchan), the pleasant old youthful man with a special mission. One who calls him Buddah will find the pain of his wrath within no time. Vijju takes control of the situation from there on, let it be girls or guns.
As told earlier, the story is not new but it perfectly fits the bill of creating nostalgia of yesteryears. However thin the story or old the story is, it is the presentation which makes the difference. Credit should go to the writer director Poori Jagannath who did a work worth applauds. He tries his best to keep the film stylish on many accounts. On the minus side, the story have two problems, one - the suspense got broken before the interval which made the after interval proceedings little less interesting, beautifully executed climax compensated for that though. Second, the Raveena Tandon track was forced and the writer could not complete it in a meaningful way. Never mind, we always have cinematic liberties to blame for such mishaps. The encounter between Amitab Bachchan & Prakash Raj is the best of the moments where sparks are bound to happen when two national award winners comes face to face. Bravo to the director for making that happen!!
Amitab Bachchan excels yet again with powerful performance. Energetic, charismatic, young and smart the veteran never disappoints in any scenes where he is part of. Prakash Raj is one actor who can make his presence felt even if you give a minute only role to him and he didnt disappoint that reputation. Hema Malini did her small part with easiness. Good! Raveena Tandons character was let down by the writers and she managed to bring some fun but the daughter character give more fun than RT. Sonu Sood is excellent! Rest of the cast did their roles ok.
Cinematography is very good. Music is average to good. They fail to create a wave but strictly ok and succeeds in maintaining the pace. Choreography too is adequate.
Action scenes are impressive. Editing is fine.
What works for the film? The stylish presentation of Amitabs character is the first happening thing. Secondly the story, lyrics and music got selected in such a way that it creates a nostalgic feel. Thirdly, the selection of yester year actresses was a good decision which got well paid off. Fourthy, it doesnt force you to think and the presentation is light.
Basically, the movie is a light entertainer which you can watch with your family - children or old age, both will enjoy it. Bachchan fans, yesterday, today or tomorrow, dont miss it!
