The Beant college of Engineering and technology is in Bariar village of Gurdaspur district of Punjab. The college is 4 Km from the gurdaspur city and on the Amritsar Pathankot highway. This college was opened by Late chief minister Beant Singh for the sake of students from this militancy affected stretch of Punjab. But in reality it benefitted the students of Punjab, chandigarh, delhi etc. The college as a start was one of the best colleges of Punjab. Every colleges suffers at the hands of either the location, fame of other colleges during the establishing years and also due to the lack of facilities during the flourishing years but this college fought well with all the odds and despite being an area marred by all types of odds the college stood tall. To start with the college in its first year showed results that were truly outstanding in front of the odds it had faced, it could establish all requirements with in two years of its birth.The faculty of the college was wonderful. The kind of studies available in the college were altogether different from all other colleges, there was an emphasis on the learning and not at purely producing engineers. This was the picture of the story till 1999. There are changes in the system as the time progresses but even if it deteriorates, BCET system will be still better than any other college of similar position. It has fought the competition well and today its engineers are sitting in good positions in many big PSUs, Private companies and MNCs. In now way the position of this college can go down. It was and it will be one of the best colleges. People who really see an engineering college as the foundation stone of their careers should join this college.
