A worthy sequel to Executive Orders

This novel by Tom Clancy is a continuation of his Jack Ryan series.

The plot runs along the following lines

  • Assassination attempt of the FSS (formerly KGB chairman)

  • Huge gold and oil find in Russia

  • Jack Ryan’s dealings as President of the United States

  • a barbaric murder which deface China in front of the world community

  • China in economic trouble, seeks money at all costs

  • Looks northward and invades Russia

What happens next?

Well, you will have to read the novel and find out

This novel builds upon the superb characterization of Jack Ryan as President in Executive Orders.

Tom Clancy as usual is thrilling and exciting to read

This novel is quite a big one though 1100+ pages and you may lose interest in the middle. But hold on, for the end is worth it .

This novel should actually be advertised as the sequel to Executive Orders. Without reading it, you will not be able to fully enjoy The Bear and the Dragon. So all of you who havent read Executive Orders , read it first. But I do belive that one should read the entire ryan series in order.

This novel is his fourth best novel .i would rate the ’’Hunt for Red October’’ first, ’’Cardinal of The Kremlin’’ his second best and ’’Executive Orders’’ his third best.

This is a must read for all Tom Clancy (and Jack Ryan) fans.
