Being Cyrus - Dark psychological thriller

The director of this movie is a Parsi guy - Homi Adajania - he has done a no of ads prominent being the one being of Pizza Hut with Nandana Sen. Being Cyrus is his first directorial venture. He has done a little better than average job.

Being Cyrus is a typical Alfred Hitchcockian suspense thriller with a dash of dry parsi humour. Very different if you have been watching only hindi cinema, little different if you follow hollywood and perfectly fine if you follow M Night Shyamalan(6th sense, Signs, The Village).

The sethna family is split into two halves. The elder brother stays at Panchmarhi(Naseer and Dimple) and the younger one stays in Mumbai(Bomman and Simone singh). Along with the younger brother(Bomman) stays the head of the sethna family - Sethna Sr. Cyrus gets an entry into the Sethna family thru Naseer who was a clay artist once upon a time. And slowly slowly Cyrus becomes well known to everybody. You have to watch the movie to see the ending.

The movie grows on you slowly and by the time you get to the climax...you have got bored. The movie is a little patchy as in good in parts. At some places the humour is quite good. You do not get some of the dialogues at some places as they are in Parsi. Subtitles wud have helped here. The best of the lot is Sethna Sr and Bomman. I would not advise you to spend money on this at a multiplex. Wait for the DVD and then check it out!!!
