BEND IT LIKE BECHAM
HEAD IT LIKE ZIDANE
KICK IT LIKE PLATINI
GLIDE IT LIKE KLINSMAN
HAND IT LIKE MARADONA.
BEND IT LIKE BECHAM can be a ripe ground for sequels, you can show HEAD IT LIKE ZIDANE where the main character a first class soccer player, living under the eyes of camera 24 hours of his life being abused of terrorism and his markers frustration in abusing his family.
And many more ripe subjects can be artfully converted into a movie, if Ms Gurinder Chadha put her mind to it, this movie under review was fun from the beginning for its new humor, the Indian mind accomodating itself to a western world and marketing its creativity in the hardsell world of commercial cinema.
The achievement of this British director Ms Gurinder Chadha is the movie acquired a place of its own in entertaining audiences all over the world, its truely a goal of movie world, equivalent to a goal by David Becham playing for England.
The song "Move on up" by Curtis Mayfield "Hush now child and dont you cry. Your folks might understand you by and by. Just move on up! Towards your destination. Though you may find from time to time, Complication".
This song sums up the inspiration the film was ment to lend to all the girl soccar players of this world, this movie primarily encourages girl soccar, its contribution will be felt in the years to come, forget the parents, forget the differences, forget the implications of this movie on other planes, its most evident spur was for the womens soccar of this world. The title of the movie with the name of Mia Hamm, would not have done anything towards the goal this movie was made for. But the name of a very successful soccar player of this world David Becham did make the purpose of the movie very evident. The name of David Becham did attract people from France, The Netherlands, Germany and many parts of the soccar playing world to this movie. Its a very well crafted, feel good movie and leave us all with great dignity without arousing anger, wrath or bad taste.
We are what we are, I have met many Indian rooted in other countries from generations, I can easily recognize them on planes to HongKong, Hamburg, South Africa, Singapore, Mauritius and I wonder at their Indianness still visible on their actions and their behaviour, its how we are always negotiating change always the elders asking us why to do you want to change a perfectly workeable mode of life to something new and untested.
The movie addressed this issue on so many fronts in a very tasty, spicy manner, so let me give you a brief of the story of this film :
Jess Bharma is a teen with dreams of becoming a soccer player. Her traditional Indian family says that a girl should not play around with boys (this is how we are in main land India)Parminder K. Nagra meets Keira Knightley (Jules) who provides Jess with the opportunity to play in a regular girls team, whose coach is Joe (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) Anupam Kher is the father, Shaheen Khan is the mother, Juliet Stevenson (Jules mother) Archie Panjabi (Pinky Bhamra) The elder sister who is going to get married on the day of the final match of Jess. There are girlie crush of both Jules and Jess for their coach Joe which is another point of contention, as Joe is not Sikh, again family will not approve of him being a suitable match for their daughter. There are other cast members tastefully developed and so many conflicts are visible to the audience of this film and all are abandoned to develop the girl soccar and its causes angle till the end. The best thing in this film was to just point out the conflicts and keep it at that. This film brings a goofy grin on your face through the whole movie. Jess is lovable and you cannot help root for her.
Empowering of women is another theme of this film, you can watch with anyone or the whole family the struggles of the characters accomplished the prime goal to impart fun and enjoyment.the story is cute. The makers could have stopped the ball and really shown brilliance by taking the film to another level. By rendering the conflicts more deep and more dramatic in situations but that was not the purpose this film was made, its prime focus is girl soccar and that made this movie quite believable and amusing.
The film speeds along with you and you will enjoyed every second of the film, the occaisional funny moments are a good chuckle of British comedy.
A FUNNY MOMENT OF THIS FILM:
