here is customs tips in Blore...
After immigration check you go through a door, take a right go down a flight of stairs(escalator) for baggage claim...Here is where the checking starts..The moment you enter the baggage claim area through a glass door the Custom officials(here after referred to as CO) will X-Ray you hand baggage..since they found a big camera they took my dismbarkation form--custom counterfoil and marked ’’camera inside’’ on it...Then I waited for my suitcase to arrive on the conveyor belt...I found three large ’’X’’ marked with chalk on my suitcase..this indicates that the baggage cointains imported items..The moment I took my suitcase two CO were behind me and asked’’Can we help you sir’’ ..
I decently declined their help and carried my suitcase towards the green channel..Two overhead boards marked with ’’Green Channel’’ and ’’Red Channel can be easily seen to the right of the conveyor belt...I held the suitcase close to my leg so the ’’X’’ marks were hid against my jeans leg..Here the CO asked for the passport and the Custom counterfoil..I showed him that and also flashed the ’’Re-Imported Item’’ document which I had obtained when going out of bangalore..He was satified and didn’t check any of my lugagge..I sailed through customs..:-)
Here are a few tips from me to jump customs..
1>. try to put the camera or any other articles in your jacket pocket .. because they donot search on person..
2>. incase you keep it in your bag ..try to enter the ’’baggage claim area’’ when a big crowd enters it..you can easily avoid the cabin luggage x-ray.. there was no queue ..a lot of foreigners and a general cofusion.. so if you are careful and fast you can avoid the cabin luggage x-ray..from then on it should be cool...
3>. The hand bag has to be passed through x-ray. Just jump of the queue with the bag in between the legs or cover the bag between 2 people. The hand bag will not be checked later in the Green chanel or in Red chanel as they assume its passed through X-ray and no chalk marks will also be there.
4>. argue with the custom official that you had it when you left india and you didn’t know you had to declare it .. and so on...
If you are lucky there will be no checks at all...
