I love Chinese food. At the cost of sounding like a glutton, let me tell you that I relish everything from noodles bought from the roadside kiosk to Almond Curry from the fancy five star kitchens, provided it is cooked in the Chinese style.
However, Berco’s (Connaught Place) has always been my preferred Chinese restaurant. Let me elaborate the reasons for the same:
Great food – The array of dishes is amazing. You can get everything from scrumptious prawns to delightful vegetable manchurian. If you are a vegetarian and like Chinese cuisine, this place is a must visit. Their menu is full of selections for vegetarians, which I rarely find in other Chinese joints.
Reasonable rates - Good food doesn’t come cheaper than this. One serving of vegetarian dish comes in approximately RS 70-90. You can pick a non-vegetarian dish for approximately RS 100-140. One portion serves two people comfortably.
Pleasant ambiance - The place is tastefully decorated, with soft music playing in the background.
Good Service - Starting right from the genial doorman (it has been the same person ever since I was a kid) to the waiters and the outlet manager, the staff seems ready to listen and help. Also, you do not have to wait long for your meal.
Miscellaneous - The outlet is positioned in the inner circle and is very easy to trace. You might have to wait for your turn if you go at lunch or dinner timings or on the weekend. Do not fret, you can give your name to the doorkeeper and take a quick tour of the music shop on the first floor. The wait is worth the yum cooking.
I recommend - If you are going there for the first time, you must try their fruit beer [or if you like the gingery taste, go for ginger ale] and one of their fried rice bowl.
Happy Eating.
