Is it all about reputation....

I am on vacation in Delhi currently and ended up going for dinner with my wife’s parents and her granny to Bercos at the Distt Center in Janakpuri. Being in India on vacation, we were eagerly looking for some good Indian Chinese food since our experience at Bercos has always been good. We have always had food at Bercos in CP and this was the first time we went to Janakpuri. Well, we had a disappointing dinner. The ambience was very very ordinary and the service was average. They didnt bother to even ask whether we needed a high chair. We finally asked for one on seeing that another family was using the high chair!! There were enough people to serve but they were just looking at the ceiling rather than customers and their needs. We had a veg sweet corn soup which was pretty average. The veg spring roll also was nothing great. The best dish in the whole meal was Chicken Kothe which is a crispy fried momos.

The veg fried rice was the next best dish. The veg hakka noodles had the tinge of street side food. The chicken side dish had raw taste to it. The Blue Currant allowed me to get away from this bad taste. The veg manchurian was way below par as well. The napkins provided had some stench which made the experience even worse. In the end, I walked out with a regret of having suggested Bercos. We were already sweating since the ac was dysfunctional and the below average food made our condition even worse. I will probably try Bercos once more, at CP, when I am here next time. Maybe, the management needs to consider whether expansion at this pace is really worth it if quality cannot be maintained. The same evening, we had a very good chinese starter at Geoffrey’s at Ansal Plaza. A bit more expensive dish but we were really tempted to go for a repeat!!
