Marutis ability to produce cost-effective cars suited for Indian conditions is unsurpassed .
No other car manufacturer is able to price spare parts as low as Maruti. This is so due to the vast service base Maruti built over the years .
In the 80s Maruti introduced the path-breaking small car, the Maruti 800 .This was the worlds cheapest car of the time which revolutionised the Indian car industry. The number of car users in India increased manifold.Even rich people wanted to own the affordable, cheap 800! It required very low maintenance too. It was a long lasting car giving great mileage .
In 2014, 30 years after its introduction, Maruti stopped producing the 800.At the same time, Maruti started the next revolution in the form of the new car Celerio. Celerio is Indias first auto gear shift hatchback, giving Indians an affordable automatic car with good mileage and low maintenance.
Automatic cars till now were low on fuel efficiency and high on maintenance. Maruti removed both these problems by robotising clutch and gear in Celerio. In that sense, Celerio can also be called Indias first robotic hatchback. It is also the cheapest automatic car in India now.The waitlist for Celerio is 6 months now making it a smash hit. Marutis marketshare increased from 40% to 50%!
So what can happen next? My answer: In the year 1984, Maruti made the 800 which anyone could buy!
In the year 2014, Maruti made the half-robotised Celerio which anyone can drive!
In the year 2044, Maruti may make a full robotic car which no one need drive!
Undoubtedly, Maruti has proven over the years that it produces the best value for money cars in India .
