OMG! Bewafa is such a disappointment....i had hopes that this film would do well because it had a pretty decent cast...but I was terribly let down...this movie was just toooo cheesy and unbelievable....their dialogue was not too great either...although it did in fact fail to fall under my Favorite Movies List, it is a decent film to watch.
The Story is basically about Anjali (kareena kapoor) and her sis, Aarti (Sushmita Sen) and their LOVING so fake of a sister relationship. Although they do fit well as sisters....Might I say that sisters are not all cheery and supportive 100%. So here they are happy with their mother and father in India....everything is perfect...Anjali sneaks off to meet her rock star of a boyfriend, Raja (Akshay kumar). He loves her immensely expressing it in the 1st song....’’Ek Dilruba Hai’’. I found it rather annoying that she asked him to sing for her (it all sounded so unreal)...their chemistry is somewhat believable at times.
Anjali arranges for Aarti to meet her boyfriend. They meet and Aarti promises to get their mother and father to approve of the couple. Now its Anjali’s turn to express her love in....’’pyar ka anjaam’’ while Kareena sings about love this, love that....Susmita sings and imagines her husband, Aditya (Anil Kapoor).
Her pregnant sis as they explain earlier in the film is pregnant after having three miscarriages and her husband is always away due to work.
THE TWIST: Aarti...by fate...dies and leaves behind a pair of girl twins. Sorrow floods the family and they all mourn for this perfect human being. In the song ’’Yaad Yaad Yaad’’ it picturizes Anjali taking the duty of mother and wife, marrying Aditya. Adi, however, is haunted by Aarti’s presence. Anjali leaves India and Raja...
3 YEARS LATER...Anjali is living in Canada with her hubby and kids. She is shown attempting to becom her sister in ’’Kaise Piya Se’’. She dances around in her fancy home with fancy clothes on. Then Adi brings her spirit down telling her she will never be Aarti but she knows that. Anjali tells Adi about her loneliness and he attempts to change that.
When Adi leaves for Germany...by chance, Anjali spots Raja, who is now a big superstar at the airport. She tries to hide from him only to be found. They meet up and he accuses her of being unfaithful as the movie is titled ’’Bewafaa’’...she in return tells him that she has been very SELFLESS...doing everything best for everyone else and sacrifacing her dreams and her love for him. He listens as she continues telling him how fake her life is...how shallow she feels...Raja breaks into song ’’Ishq Chupta Nahin’’ when Anjali breaks into tears...he persuades her to meet him and keep loving him...so they meet secretly and thus Anjali is cheating on her husband not respecting her vows (i guess their arent vows since they were married in a courthouse...)
Next enters.... Adi’s best friends Dil (Manoj Bajpai) and Pallavi (Shamita Shetty) who are a married couple, they’re not funny...in fact...they’re very devious. Pallavi catches Anjali on one of her secret meetings with Raja. It’s not until Dil throws a party that Anjali gets to know that Adi’s friends know about her and Raja. They threaten to tell Adi and Anjali sits around nervous and afraid. They sing the ’’kehta hai kabootar’’ song which isn’t one of my favorites...it’s a little annoying...
Anjali breaks down, losing confidence in her love for Raja. At this point, Raja becomes more demanding, and pressures her to run away with him. He’s not a lover any more, he’s an obsessed lover. That night at his concert, Anjali tells him that she’s not going with him. He gets angry and sings out his heart in ’’Ek Bewafaa’’...
After the song, it is revealed that Adi has known about the affair for awhile. He gives Anjali a choice of leaving with Raja or staying with him and the twins her poor sis left behind....
so what will she choose? FIND OUT BY WATCHING THE FILM!!!!
