! ~~ I Slept ~~!

I cannot believe this is a Priyadarshan movie. I mean, it was not that difficult to guess it because it has Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in the movie. There is also a bhel-puri type ending in which everyone is chasing everyone else and there is utter mayhem. Rajpal Yadav lands in the arms of a bust with his mouth near the uncovered breast of a statue and the audience is supposed to laugh at it. The only laughter that came from this audience was at the director because he thought the audience takes this scene to be funny.

The story/plot/whatever is thus - Akshay and Govinda are part of a theater group owned by Paresh Rawal(I guess it was the same group that didnt pay BabuBhaiyya of Hera Pheri rent for staying in his house and whose costumes are taken over as mortgage in lieu of the payment). Anyways, the duo of Akshay and Govinda hit upon the leading lady of the troup and she quits just when they are to go for a performance to London. The troup does go to London sans the heroine in hopes of finding one there and they get drugs instead of their heroine. This leads to events that are supposed to be funny.

When their troupe lands in London, they are received by Rajpal Yadav who plays the taxi driver. He tells them "please dont dirty this place, its not India. dont make it like India". I wonder how the censor board gave clearance to such defamatory dialogs for our country. Whats worse is - in the next scene, Akshay Kumar is shown spitting water on the streets - **here I would like to tell Mr. Priyadarshan that the scene was completely unnecessary as it didnt add any value to the movie. If you cannot make movies to portray a good image of your country(and mine), please avoid this kind of footage in your movies.

At this point, If the reader feels I digressed too much, let me tell you that I’m only preparing you for the movie - because this is exactly how the plot in the movie progresses. There were characters introduced in the movie after half the movie was over. There is absolutely no logic, neither is there any rhyme nor reason for the story and the umpteen number of coincidences in the movie that the audience is supposed to digest in the name of comedy. I’m sorry, but it didnt make me laugh at all and the times I was laughing, I was laughing AT the director and not WITH him for this feeble hare-brained(and at times vulgar) plot that was presented in the name of comedy.

Such was the useless complexity of the plot in the movie that in the end when Lara Dutta recaps the summary of what happens in the movie, she put me to sleep. I only awoke as the end credits started to roll. I didnt bother to check what happened next nor did I ask how much I had missed, because I was assured that if I didnt miss anything of value and hence it was not worth recapping or revisiting.

Verdict - Go visit your dentist instead of wasting time on this one. it will be more fun and you will also get cleaner teeth!

And I thought Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was bad. Ha!
