The name of Ashit Desai and melodious devotionals go hand in hand. This gifted Composer and Singer is credited with a number of devotional Albums. Bhakta Triveni presents a rare combination of bhakti poetry, perfect vocals and excellent compositions. Mellifluous voice of Ajoy Chakraborty, Hariharan and Suresh Wadekar have been used in the ten tracks of this Album of classical. As the name of the Album would suggest, the *Bhakti *poetry of three poets as Surdas, Tulsidas and Brahmanand have been selected.
Hariharan starts with Surdas Bhajan Prabhu more avgun chit na dharo. The grace and compassion of the Lord is invoked in the petry which has been beautifully portrayed by Hariharan. The ever popular Tu dayal din hum/tu daani hum bhikhari by the saint-poet Tulsidas have been rendered with tenderness by Suresh Wadekar which personifies the ultimate in Bhakti Ras *.Each piece of this Album vies with each other in excellence and the next number He Govind He Gopal rakho sharana sung by Ajoy Chakraborty conveys the message of surrender of the devotee. Ajoy Chakraborty gives that special touch in rendition of this poetry by Surdas.
Composition of Brahmanand in praise of Goddess Durga JaiDurga Durgati Parihariniis the next number by Hariharan. The singing exudes the vibrancy of Shaktias symbolized by Goddess Durga. Bhaj man rama charan sukhdai sung by Suresh Wadekar is again a soulful number exhorting the devotees to have a constant communication with the divine which alone can give relentless joy. This is a poetry by Goswami Tulsidas.
Ajoy Chakraborty again excels in the Surdas number Deenan dukh haran deva Santan Hitakari.Depicting the glories of the Lord, Surdas says that the Lord bestows His grace to those who have surrendered at thy feet.
….Gaj ko Jab Grah grasyo/Dusashan cheer khasyo
Sabha beech Krishna Krishna Draupadi Pukari/
Itne Hari aaya gaye basanan arudh bhaye/
Surdas dware thado Aandhro Bhikhari
This verse drenched in devotion is personified in the ‘signature’ line of the poetry where Surdas speaks himself to be a blind beggar standing at the door of the Lord. This one is the crème-de-la-crème of the Album .
Jo bhaje hari ko sadaa by Hariharan and Mere mana anant kahan such payo by Suresh Wadekar presents these numbers in a way that touches instantly with the listeners .Brahmanand and Surdas respectively are the poets.
Jai jai jaga janani devi sura nara muni asur sevo by Tulsidas in invocation of the Goddess is infused to life by the rendition of Ajoy Chakraborty. The pace and rhythm of the prayer reflects the bhava of the Saint-Poet. The last number is again a piece sung by Ajoy Chakraborty .The selection is Sri Ramachandra kripalu bhajamana by Tulsidas. This number has been rendered by eminent singers and comparison is bound to occur. However once again the ace singer holds his forte and makes this piece a divine experience for the listeners.
The Album has been released by Navras Records, U.K and has since been re-released in India by Sony Music .The Album is priced at Rs.195/-
