Bhalukpong

Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district lies in the foothills of the Himalayas. Bhalukpong is a wonderful place for wildlife enthusiasts, adventure enthusiasts, hikers, rafters, and anglers.

The hill station of Bhalukpong, which lies 213 m above the sea level, is on the banks of the Kameng River and borders along the dense forests that form the periphery of the Pakhui Game Sanctuary. Bhalukpong is a gateway to popular destinations like Tawang and Bomdila, but it has its own special charm too.

Part of the attraction of holidaying in Bhalukpong is its easy accessibility from Tezpur, 52 km away. This combined with the town’s natural beauty and the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, makes Bhalukpong the treasured hill retreat that it is. So travel to Bhalukpong and explore its charms yourself. Most people prefer to drive the distance. NH 37 is in excellent condition and the road passes through the Kaziranga National Park. There are watch sheds at vantage points along the highway and you can see rhinos, elephants and other animals on the marsh lands a little distance off.A good time to visit Bhalukpong would be anytime between October and April with the best time actually being in October - November and again in March - April. This is the time when the weather is most conducive and remains cool in the 20 degrees C region. The rains come in rather heavily in the monsoon season which lasts from May through September tourists should avoid that period.

The Nyethidow Festival celebrated by the Aka Tribe in March draws a lot of tourists and is a good time to visit.
