After gathering some information from internet, me and my family deicded to go to Bhandardara after going to Saputara. Bhandardara is a different type of hill station and it is unpolluted and very clean.
If you are from Mumbai, then you can reach Bhandardara via Shahpur and Igatpuri. After Igatpuri, enter a small-village called Ghoti. As you go ahead, you will come across a railway-crossing. After the railway crossing, you enter a different type of region. And after some time, you reach Bhandardara.
There are two resorts in Bhandardara-MTDC Resort and Anandvan Resort. I stayed at MTDC Resort and it is a very nice hotel. It has 10 Deluxe Rooms, 9 Special Rooms, 8 Standard Rooms, 6 Lakeside Cottages and 2 Group Accomodation rooms. MTDC provides spectacular view of the Arthur lake. It also has a restaurant, Lake View Restaurant and it provides the best food. The rooms are also very cozy and nice and have all the facilities like TV, Hot and Cold Water etc.
There are few places of interest in Bhandardara:
1.Wilson Dam: It is the largest earthen dam in India. It was made way back in 1910. At the base of this dam, there is a garden. But you cannot enter it until you get permission from Irrigation Office.
2.Arthur Lake: A very beautiful lake. It looks great at dusk, when the sun just rises. It looks like a serpent, as it criss-crosses through the mountains. This lake is very clearly visible from MTDC Resort.
3.Mount Kalsubai: The largest peak in Maharashtra. You have to trek for 1-2 hours in order to reach this peak.
There are also other places like Agasti Rishi Ashram, Ratangad Fort and Amriteshwar Temple.
If you are in Bhandardara, then just look at the sky during the night. You will see lots of stars; such things are not possible in the city.
But there are a lot of drawbacks of Bhandardara. The roads which leads to Bhandardara is very narrow and not proper. So one has to drive properly, with full concenteration. The roads that leads to Amriteshwar and Ratangad Fort is even more improper and you will get tired driving on such roads. The hill-station is not like other hill-stations. It has no market-place. If you want anything, you have to drive down to a village called Shendi. Night-life becomes very boring here. So I suggest you that if you want to visit Bhandardara, visit in a group.
On the whole, Bhandardara is a nice hill-station with all the beauties of nature but is still not developed properly like Lonavala, Mahabaleswar etc.
