Beautiful Picture Perfect Place

The place is 45kms from Igatpuri. Ideally, one should have a vehicle to go there. From Nashik highway, after Igatpuri, one should go throgh a village called Ghoti to reach Bhandardhara. Alternatively, a person can reach Igatpuri by Bus or Train and take ST Bus to reach Bhandardara. The best place to stay are MTDC hotels. The best among them are lake side cottages.

These cottages are reasonably priced (Rs2500/-) per day. These cottages are overlooking Arthur lake which is the main attraction of the place. One can spend hours sitting and watching the lake. MTDC serves fairly simple but tasty food. The best time to go may be September/October, just immediately after the rain. During rainy season, though the place may be very beautiful, the approach roads may not be good. If you go immediately after rainy season, probably one can see water flowing through Wilson Dam. I went in November and I could  see only very little water coming out of the dam.

There is Kalsubai hill which is good place for trekkers. Apart from these the place also has few ancient temples like Agastya ashram and Amruteshwar Temple. As far I am concerned I saw mainly the lake from various location and Wilson Dam. The climate is very nice with night temperatures are atleast 10 degrees lower than Mumbai. To the credit of MTDC it must be said that they ensured continuous power supply inspite frequent power cuts locally. The staff of MTDC are extremely courteous and cooperative. Guides are available are available in plenty at reasonable price (Rs200/- per day).
