I recently had a tour to Andaman for 5 days by a travel company "Bharat Bhraman" from Mumbai along with my family. We went to chennai first, stayed there for a day then took a flight from chennai to port blair. Andaman - port blair is a very beautiful place. Its lush green, clean and has beautiful beaches. We saw Cellular jail, Carbine cove beach, Ross Island, Viper Island, Mount harriet, zoological park, Rajiv gandhi Sports complex - for water sports, Aquarium, wandoor beach, chatam saw mill, meausum, handi crafts emporium, Gandhi park, horticulture farm. The travel group consisted of 26 people.
We were provided with a maruti omni car for people of 5. Every day good sumptuous homely breakfast, lunch, dinner, light snacks and tea was served. We went seeing the places mentioned above for 5 days. Water of the sea is very clean I did a lot of swimming, snorkleing, boating, water ski. The tourist guide was very friendly provided good details of each place and its historical importance. All places are worth a visit especially cellular jail, wandoor beach and ross island. We could not go to havelock Island because the boat was not full to its capacity and hence they didnt take us.
The travel plan was very neat and services like airport pick up, drop, local touring, guide, all ticketing and bookings, tickets at all the places, local tour transportation and all other things were fine. All the places are really worth a visit. On the return journey we came from Port blair to chennai and from chennai to Mumbai which was a little hectic schedule. The weather is humid and hot in andaman. The hotel Abhishek was not that good it was neat, clean had AC, fridge, TV but the rooms were small and were old fashioned.
In Andman everywhere you can see green - big old trees, dense jungles, water every where. Good for Nature lovers. I visited the place also to see freedom fighter Veer Sawarkar’s memorial in cellular jail. It is definately worth a try but it is moderately expensive. The travel co. is good and local people in andaman are very friendly.
