Room For Improvement!

I wrote a review on shaadi.com a couple years back. I have decided to write one now on bharatmatrimony.com


I’ve been on bharatmatrimony.com (more specifically kannadamatrimony.com) for a few years now (off and on).


The site definitely has some positive things going for it like there are various language portals, several search options, a block feature, and a chance to view similar profiles when you view another member’s profile. The block feature is a definite plus because if another member keeps bothering you (by sending you messages or if you feel uncomfortable for whatever reason), you can immediately block him or her from contacting you and viewing your profile. This feature is not available on many other matrimonial websites.


The "viewing similar profiles" option is also pretty helpful. When you view a member’s profile and express interest, you are given suggestions for similar profiles. This saves time and lets you express interest in more people.


The negatives unfortunately outweigh the positives. It is just too time consuming to go through so many profiles. There’s never an exact limit and it feels like you are scrolling through a never ending mass of pictures and written descriptions. The loading time for profiles to come up when searching is also quite slow. It’s just annoying because it breaks the continuous flow of the actual search. I just really don’t like the layout design of the website. It isn’t attractive and could be better looking. I would suggest better colors and fonts for a start. I think shaadi.com has a much better layout and prefer that over BM anyday.


Another negative is that a lot of the members on BM don’t respond. They don’t seem to respond to messages or IM messages.


I honestly haven’t met anyone from this site. So I can’t say anything about that. But if this site expects to succeed, they better get up their game. In all honesty, would you rather be on a site that is user friendly or not?
