I still remember the first time I saw it. A huge entrance, then a gate, and then a sprawling campus. Was I dumbfounded?
All the other colleges I had seen had small or no campuses. Not that a campus identifies a college, but for me it was something.
It is located just 15 mins away from the busy Andheri station in Mumbai. U can either go walking or take a bus. Bhavans offers courses in all 3 streams. Most of the faculty is good, with quite a few bordering on excellent, and some being really tops!!. There are 3 buildings, a canteen (the usual noisy one), and a huge playground.
It has, within the same campus, the Sardar Patel College of Engineering ( a prestigious one), the Hansraj Morarji school, a lawn tennis club, another 2 schools (I forgot their names) and the residence of the principal. So, u can imagine how large the campus is!
It is shut off from the maddening deafness of Bombay, but still within it. It has a good sports scene, and quite a few film/serial shoots take place within the campus.
The annual festival is to die for!! The crowd is of all hues, from the neo-rich to the just-getting-by types, making it a cauldron of colours and attitudes.
It was at on time a political hot-bed and the scene of many a drug deal and sword fights, but those days have passed. Hunks and beautiful girls are a dime a dozen here.
I surely had a fun time there. U would have, too, if u had been with me!!
I am sure everybody feels sentimental about his/her college. I do, too. o each, his own. I am sure there are better and worse colleges all over the world. But, for me, the experience was unforgettable.
