This movie has got all the ingredients to make it into a classic entertaining movie of this year. Initially I thought this to be a comedy movie like many others but was pleasantly shocked to hear that this was the remake of the movie chandramukhi and apta mithra(Kannada version) and the original mallu movie. I was disappointed by chandramukhi though. I expected this movie to be average and but I think this is more than good.
The comedy in the first half is hilarious and I feel it is better than the Kannada and tamil version. priyadarshan I feel has managed to mix and mash comedy, thriller and horror together which is not a easy task.
If the first half was comedy with some thriller, the second half was even better. I thought the second half was quite thrilling and even quite scary. I liked the climax scene where vidya dances. cinematography I felt was done very well here.
The lights, make up, everything was done well. To act like being a women possessed and not to overact is very difficult, I think vidya has done a good job.
Overall I loved akshay for his superb comic timing, he is the best in comedy business. I feel hes right up there together with boman and arshad warsi as far as comedy is concerned.
Not to forget paresh rawal, he was superb too, most of his scenes as a frigtened man were hillarious and the entire theater would burst out laughing.
I loved vidya in her role she has expressive eyes whoever said she cannot act first needs to know what acting is. I mean right from parineeta, to LRMB she has done a great job and with no time she is being counted as one of the top fine actresses in Bollywood.
I think there are hardly one or two songs in the movie as far as I can remember, pardon me if Iam wrong. I was really happy about this aspect since I hate too many songs untill and unless they have really good music. I feel priyan has done a good job by not introducing unnecessary songs.
The most fascinating thing I found about this movie was that this phenomenon of being possessed was explained through scientific means but the spiritual explanation cannot be ignored. I mean you cannot tell for sure.I mean both are 2 sides of the same coin, I think that part is brought out well in the movie. The cons are mainly that how did vidya learn bengali language or how did she learn to dance, some explanation was necessary there I feel. merely by looking at a poster one cannot learn classical dance. these are some loose ends in the movie which priyan could hav taken care of.
