The movie Bhoot has been in Theatres for about a month now and I think almost everyone here on MS has seen it and there have been 47 reviews written on this movie. I watched this movie during its second week of release. I should have written on this movie the same day I watched it, but now that no one in this world cares about Bhoot, heres what Ive got to write about it:
The reason I went to see Bhoot in a Theatre
It was a typical Thursday night and at 9:00 p.m. my whole family was glued to the screen watching Kkusum. I was waiting for that extremely stupid serial to get over so that Mom can make me a Roti. Sidharth (a character in Kkusum) dies in a car crash and my whole family is stunned. Heres what happened next:
Bhabhi:: Shit.., Kkusum is over. We have just finished
the last episode.
Prince:: No way Bhabi, I bet this stupid serial will
never get over.
Bhabhi:: Bet on it.
Prince:: Done, if we see another episode of Kkusum on
Monday, youll take us to a movie of my choice.
If its over, Ill take everyone willing to come
to a movie of your choice.
Bhabhi:: Deal.
This was one bet I wanted to loose so badly cuz I can ask Mom to make me dinner at any time not worrying about Kkusum. But Ekta Kapoor proved it again, we (excluding me) watched Kkusum on Monday, and I told Bhabhi that well all go to watch Bhoot.
Mom, Dad and Massi changed their mind the moment the heard the name of the movie. So myself, Bhabhi, Puppal(my elder brother), and Jolly(younger brother) all went to watch the movie.
There was hardly anybody in the theatre, Three of us and about 10 more people. Bhabi is already scared because its dark inside and there arent enough people in the movie theatre.
Heres what happened next
The movie begins, Bhabhi kept her eyes closed for the most part of the movie and the three of us, Well, heres what we did:
*Enjoyed the pop corns and coke.
*Made Bhutiya sounds, Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh
*Laughed out Loud each time Sima Biswaas featured in the movie.
*Convinced Bhabhi to open her eyes. I tried to tell her that I really like Manjit and she should at least see her face.
*Got really excited when Urmila Mantodkar spins the head of the watchman backwards and knocks Ajay Devgan down. We were discussing that Urmila Mantodkar should challene Mike Tyson in heavyweight boxing.
*Frightened Bhabhi when the movie was over and had to sleep hungry that night, since Mom was sleeping, and Bhabhi wouldnt make us anything becuase we scared her.
NOW BACK TO THE MOVIE:
PROS
Excellent sound effects. No songs.Performance of the complete star cast. But Urmila deserves a special mention here. Ram Gopal definitely brings the best out of Urmila and he proves it again. No haveli, No white curtains, No Thakur, No candles and nothing we have seen in previous Bollywood horror movies.
CONS
Script Script and Script. The story lacked suspense. Once the first half is over, the movie is very predictable. Also the climax is a weak link of the movie. And like my fellow MS member karana, I agree that it shouldnt even be called a scary movie. It failed to scare me, but then I think of my Bhabhi crying in the end when all we did was scream. Duh, maybe it was scary.
Conclusion
Overall a movie worth watching once putting aside all the expectations. Its definitely the best horror movie made in Bollywood and hopefully itll headstart the making of some real thrillers in future.
I really feel like not posting my review because I dont know why the hell have I mentioned my family in the reivew. But heck, I spent 30 minutes on it, so I am posting it.
Comments would be highly appreciated and are awaited
Prince
P.S::Its 12:00 pm here and I swear to God, I am never going to drink again in the afternoon. I believe my reivew proves it.
