A lot has been written about this movie on MS. A lot of hype has been created everywhere. Will it scare? Or will it be just another horror flick? What is it all about ?
Backups are wonderful things. They are absolutely essential for the safety of your data. Apart from this, they also provide people like me an opportunity to catch up with pending movies.... lolz :-).
Saw this one at a fav. theatre EROS.

Performances & Technicality :
Ever heard of the term Fits like a Glove. That is exactly how each artist was chosen for each role. There were no misfits. Period. The entire cast has delivered an amazing performance in the film. Everyone has known exactly how much to act and how not to overact. No dialogue in the film is unessential. By now it is a known fact that Urmila has acted well. I would say that she has delivered a brilliant performance. I never thought that any artist from the current jing-bang of Bollywood could deliver such a strong performance. In fact after reading certain revus on bhoot on MS, I never imagined that everyones acting would be so fantastic. I liked each and every artist in their respective role.
People have written that there are unnecessary shots of lifts and travelling between home and office...well, come on people.....its an ordinary story. If people go to a picnic then a shot of a bus/train with people singing would be shown. Here people are shown going to work and leading a routine life. What better way to portray that then to show routine scenes in a film !! Trust me folks, these scenes are absolutely vital to depicting ordinariness in the film.
Regarding comparisons with The Exorcist and other english horror movies, I feel that this was no inspired story. The subject was handled very well here and all scenes in the movie were immensely enjoyed by me.
Background Score :
It is utmost vital in any movie. And more so in a horror flick. There are only one or two instances where I felt that oh-ok this could have been avoided. Apart from these instances, the score is handled very well in this movie.
What not to do before going to watch this movie :
Do not read extreme revus on the movie which point out the scary moments and the flaws. Instead go to see it with an open mind without any bias or expectation from the movie. Before entering the hall, I literally said to myself This is an ordinary movie I am going to watch.
See this movie with people who are interested in watching this movie. Avoid going to this one with chatterboxes. Coz if you miss any scene, itll spoil the entire show for you.
Do not go into the hall trying to think that you are not going to be scared by watching it. I mean, come on, why else would you go to watch a horror movie ?? There are many hypocrites who would have given it a rave verdict if it had been directed by someone from Hollywood. What is laudable here is that our directors CAN churn out extremely good stuff. And we should appreciate them for doing so.
Why I liked this movie :
Normally bhoots are shown to exist in remote places and act on their own whim and fancy. But the bhoot in the movie was not doing things bcoz it wanted to hurt or trouble anyone. It had a motive. In our country there are many illiterate people who would have been misguided if it was portrayed otherwise. Full marks to RGV for handling the bhoot well right from its entry to exit. And also for being different and for holding the audiences attention without any musical distractions. The surprise element was also handled very nicely. Some events were so sudden that I felt a chill going thru my bones. It was not only me. There were a two guys in the back row who occasionally kept talking in an unnecessary loud voice (like when people do when they are scared out of their wits).
My Verdict :
Bhoot is a genuine attempt to scare the audience. It plants a seed of fear in your mind and with its showers of horrors germinates it into a tree. Irrespective of your beliefs about ghosts, Go Watch it !!
Thanks for reading. Dont forget to rate and do drop a line if you liked the revu :-)
