Let me tell you one ting truly. I had gone to watch this movie with little apprehension as I had read the Times of Inda review on net where Nikhat Kazmi has writtn off this movie with two and half stars only. Though I have lost faith in her review long ago when I saw her givng low ratings to good movies like Mai Meri Patni aur Woh etc.
And when I came out of the cinmea hall with my wife, we were just glad to have such a nice movie after long time. I think after TZP, upo this time Bhootnath is the best movie I have wacthed this year. Headache of Tashan was Bheeshan despite of the fact that reviewers of newspapers and some of buddies here had liked it! Carryin that scare too, we entered the hall carefully and returned with paisavasool feeling. Bhootnath is a must go for all you guys who love to watch movies alongwith your family and especially if you have got kids.
Storyline simple but soulful: The movie is all about a ghost, who craed his life long for affection of his child and his attachment to his family and home long left by all. And whenever someone tries to occupies that house that ghost tries to make them flee. But there enters a kid who is far from any fear and knows only one thing that there is no ghost but only angles. How an innocent thught changes a ghost into a lovely friend, I think has been shown with such delicacy and emotions that I think never had been done before here.
The entire story is simple but he treatment tells that how various emotions of each character could be potrayed and make a difference. The story unolds in a beautiful landscape of Goa and revolves around the theme o emtional development of protagonist who had been craving for it for long and in its deprivation had gone wrong, how bonding between two enemies develop and how they become so much attached that it becomes unbearable for them to be away from each other.
The movie is approximately 2hrs 30 minute long. 1hr45 minutes goes in full of comedies with goodemotional punches underlining each sequence between Amitabh, the kid, Juhi, Satish Shah and Rajpal yadav, and last 45 minutes takes an emotionla approach and reasonings. Finally the movie ends at a postiive good note and leaves the audience completely in love with Bhootnath and his small friend Banku. In entire movie Shahrukh too looks refreshing and different and keeps on coming in some shots.
Performances: This moivie is an out and out another masterstroke of Amitabh Bachchan where he spreads horizons of emotions so blissfully that you like time and again acknwldge that there could be no best than this man. From comedy, to childishness to guilt feeling to teasers to tragic .this man will leave you spellbound. Last year he had given an ultimate performance in Chini Kum and this year this one comes as another masterstroke.
Another stealer is the Kid Banku himself. He holds so much innocence with lots of micheif and carries scenes to trmendously. In entire movies both of these two have given memorable performance due to their fantastic chemistry which looked so natural.
Juhi Chawala was excellent as mom with great comedy and humor. Comedy scenes between Rajpal, Amitabh, Satish Shah as tiffin theif principal are so much humourous that you keep on laughing breathlessly.
Finally SRK has also looked refreshing and different with restrained performance in his intermittent appearances as father of the kid. Only Priyanshu disappoints in this movie where every one has given excellent performance.
Direction, music and techies: This is a new directors debut. And he has given a good product. His recognition of characters has been at and knew very well how much to utilize each character. How an emotional retionship can grow with a kid and how ghost can be a friend. Good job Vivek. He very carefully deals with comedy and at end gives good reasoning without any drag or preaching.
The music section of this movie is OK. But I liked the oneChalo Man BHi Jao" and I think for kids songs are really entertaining. Camera work has been good and they have captured some good pictureseque of Goa.
Finally: This movie is just from heart kind of substance. Also a paisa vasool, I found all kids enjoying Bhootnath and Banku chemstry very much. If my daughter would have been little older to understand movies she would ahve definately loved this movie as other kids did and we just missed her in the cinemahall. This movie is sweet, lovely full of comedy and humor with refreshing underlines that after watching it you will simply fall in love with Bhootnath. An apt summer hliday treat for you and your family. I just think why did Times of India gave this nice movie such a bad rating! It deseves to be hit and seen. Simply a Paisa Vasool movie and best movie of the year so far after TZP.
