Bhubaneshwar being my hometown is the ancient and the capital city of one of the eastern states of India, Odisha, the city ranks the highest for the number of temples.There are number of tourists attractions in the city.
The city also has the least number of crimes against women as the people living in the city consider women as Goddess.
The Lingaraj temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and dotted at the Bindu Sagar Lake is one of the most prominent landmark of the city.
The famous festival that is celebrated is Maha Shivratri in the phalgun month.
The temple is built based upon the Kalinga Architecture. Devotees are not allowed to stay inside the temple premises during the night time due to the presence of snakes(king cobra).
Malpua is a delicacy that is famous.
Chillika Lake:-
Being a part of Bay of Bengal, and the Asias largest brackish water lagoon spread in the dry season is nestled in the heart of the coastal Odisha.
The lake is considered to be the home for phenomenal variety of birds and also the training center for Indian Navy.
Fishing is one of the prominent occupation of the inhabitants with variety of fishes being found here.
Another major attraction at Chilika is Irrawady dolphins which are often spotted off Satpada Island and Kalijai islands.
Nandankanan Zoological Park:- Nandankanan Zoological Park and a botanical garde, became the first zoo in India to become a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums(WAZA).
Also the park holds 150+ different variety of species and is well known for the white tiger safari.
Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves:- formerly known as "Cuttack caves", they are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance.
Its a good place for family outing, food and drinks available outside of the Hill.
Regional Museum of Natural History:- The galleries emphasize the conservation of nature and natural resources while depicting ecological interrelationship among plants and animals. Visually challenged students can feel the exhibits of animals on the premises. The museum provides an extracurricular activity for schools and promotes environmental awareness.
