I recently bought a bunch of items including a set of Parle Happy Happy cake packs. The cakes were on offer as a set of three packs all sellotaped together, so you have to buy all three together.
I always check expiry dates for food products and I checked the date for the pack on the sides(for which expiry date was visible) and the dates were current. After going home, I separated the packs of three - and found that the middle one for which the date was not visible in the pack of three was manufactured on 20 Feb 2016; with 90 day expiry, it had expired on 20 May 2016 - I had bought it on 14 Aug 2016, about 3 months after it had expired. Unfortunately, I found out after my daughter started eating the cake and complained that this particular pack of cakes was hard and uneatable.
Big Bazaar(Hebbal, Bangalore) had cunningly put the expired pack in the middle so that it couldnt be seen, hoping to pass it off to unsuspecting customers. Avoid Big Bazaar if you need to stay in good health - they need to be raided by the Food Inspectors and the shop shut down for intentionally jeopardizing health of people.
I am also going to attempt to find where I can formally log a complaint with Food Inspection authorities.
