I went to Big Bazaar on a sunday. It was so crowded that we couldnt move around properly. It was chaotic out there. I am not sure how we could search/shop for something there. I started feeling how can they call this as Big Bazaar. They had turned off elevators and every one had to use escalators. What to do with the carts?????? god knows.
I bought some furniture from there for immediate use... the sales person out there was not ready to door deliver saying that my bill amount will be just 3000+. I was not sure what to say for that, 3000 rupees doesnt have value any more. Many people survive on that amount. Any way, after that we liked few other items, so they agreed to deliver. It took about 8-10 days to deliver. Not sure why it takes that long.
In the first shot of delivery, chair was missing. The delivery people had no clue about what I was talking about. I had to call them up and let them know that chair was missing. The delivery people wanted some "Khushi". I did not know what to say for that.
After 2 days one of the guy came with the chair, it was broken and few parts were missing. so he went back saying, he will get those. The chair he got was not clean enough, it looked as if they repacked the display model and got it.
I assembled the center table myself, the parts were not good. There was rust already on them. Not sure what to do... planning to call them up let them know that they are selling some cheap stuff for a big price.
The day we went there, we did good amount of shopping. While coming out my sons bag did not go through the security system. For that sake there were 4-5 guys checking one small pre-school bag. It was humiliating. They emptied the whole bag and found nothing. It had a lunch box, small diary, diapers and thats it. Then they started saying the tag on the bag is missing. All the while I was trying to tell them that the bag is not from their store, it was bought in US and they dont sell such good quality stuff. It is a nice Gap Bag.
Just in time the owner or manager of the store came there and he checked the bag once. I told him that this bag was bought in US and it is a school bag. He let us go though others wanted to check the bag some more. Pretty humiliating and pathetic scenario that was.
After browsing through all the items in the store, I feel most of the items sold there are discarded/rejected items by walmart and dollar stores. Prices seem to be higher than what walmart usually sells for. I am not sure when people will start demanding for quality. This needs to stop. We are paying much higher prices for some of the items than in US but the quality is not even half of what is sold in US.
Ultimately it is better to go to speciality stores than this one stop shop thing.
