During Maha bachat Republic day sales in Big Bazaar, I happened to visit with one of our friends. It usually draws huge crowd on such events for availing discount offers. After collecting articles we rushed to billing counter and it was overcrowded. There was long waiting queues. After having spent an hour or so in picking the articles required, standing in long queues for billing is somewhat taxing and uncomforting. Everybody in the queue was carrying trolleys full of articles and it was taking almost 15-20 minutes to the billing done for one person as picking each item by the sales counter person, scanning its bar code, counting of item for entering right quantity was time consuming affair. Finally we lost patience and left the place.
The time consuming process of billing can be cut down drastically if the sales counter top has in-built scanner so that it scans the item as soon as it is placed on it. This will also save on manual labour and time of sales counter person and increase its productivity. Above all this will not deter customers like us from entering BIG BAZAAR .
