If you are an addict for comfort (read that as leg space) when watching a movie on the big screen then, this is the place for you. It has got space to the max... remove those tiresome slippers, stretch out those legs on the carpetted floor and watch the movie as it unfurls on the screen.
IMAX at wadala can be reached easily via the eastern express from sion. As you come towards ghatkopar/chembur from sion, take the right at Priyadarshini building (a tall brown and cream building, a landmark in that area) near chunabhatti. Come smoothly on the road towards bhakti park and look towards your left....
A huge dome starts appearing on the horizon... that is the IMAX dome.
If you are driving (and that is the best way to reach there), then you would be definitely worried about parking your car....RELAX.. IMAX like I said, offers space to the max and that includes even parking space. Theres a huge amount of pay & park space in the theatre complex and your car can rest in its own cosy little corner for the time you are enjoying yourself in the theatre. Tickets though might seem a bit steeply priced, but then thats how it is with all the multiplexes today. Upper stall ticks cost around 150 bucks while lower stall around 100. But if you are a stickler for leg space and comfort, then go all out and buy those U/S tics.
As you enter the theatre lobby, the sheer size and glass facade will impress you. There are food stalls all around (An italian joint, an indian joint - sarson da saga and a general food joint for those sandwiches). They have also recently added a Crosswords in the place, so a book addict like me can spend the last minute in there browsing.
Theres also a gaming zone, where kids and adults can enjoy, but for a price;) There is also the THRILLARIUM, which has simulated rides for your thrills.
The whole place is clean and extremely tidy, and this includes the toilets too, which are also spacious...really spacious...like everything else here:)
The screens (4 of them in all) are on the next level which can be reached with an escalator. THe screens are big, much bigger than most of the other multiplexes. The acoustics are very good, pure & clear sound and music waft from the Dolby-DTS speakers which are well spaced.
The seats are very cushy & comfortable, more so in the upper stalls (much like the business class in planes) and can be tilted to a considerable degree. But for the upper stalls book your tickets well in advance cos these are really in demand. The upper stall seats and leg space provided is the best amongst all multiplexes, be it fame or the fun republics or the 24 karats or the cineplanets and the cinemagics. The seating and the space is so good that it really spoils you and you expect a similiar treat at all the other theatres...
And finally, yes the pop corn is great...crunchy and tasty...perhaps one of the best I have ever had...
So buy that caramel-salted popcorn, stretch those legs, sit back and enjoy the IMAX experience... Its worth it!!!
