A really big fish !!!

Tagline: An adventure as big as life itself.

I finally managed to watch the movie "Big Fish" after several months of yearning since I first heard of it . Being a Tim Burton fan , I started watchingthe movie with great expectations and I was not disappointed .

Itis a strange yet intriguing story of a dying father who keeps tellingstrange & seemingly impossible stories of his youth to his son& daughter in law . The son thinks that he is a liar & tries tofind out more about his father only when he is about to die . It islike a bizarre dream & that’s what makes it interesting .

Itshows several stories of the father’s life in flashbacks . My personalfavourite is of course the part when the father as a youngster joinsthe circus only to find out the whereabouts of his lady love . Hefinally manages to find the girl and win her over with some bizarre yetlovable gestures . It also involves some more strange characters likethe one who helps him in his conquest but turns into a werewolf atnight and the giant who works for him . Several stories follow this oneincluding one involving the siamese twins .

The film ends withthe inevitable death of the father but before that the son tries hardto find out more about his father & almost relives the stories bymeeting his past acquaintances . At the funeral ceremony of his fatherhe encounters all those people who appeared in his father’s stories .

The film actually talks about common human traits using bizarre tales and that is what makes it so different and incomparable .

Comingto the cast and crew , I must say that it is the best Tim Burton movieI have seen ( I haven’t seen Ed wood) so far . I will put it above Edward Scissorhand , Sleepy Hollow and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .He keeps his reputationintact & tells a bizarre tale effectively . The only missing thing was Johnny Depp . As he is normally a regular feature in Burton’s movies it is hard not to miss him .

Cinematography and background scores were quite brilliant .

I must also mention Ewan McGregor(young Ed Bloom , the father) & Albert Finney (old Ed Bloom) for their performances .

Thesupporting cast has also done a great job . I particularly liked (readloved) the beautiful Elison Lohman as the young Sandra Bloom (Ed’swife) .

Finally I would like to say that this movie is for those people who

love fairy tales & would like the ecstacy to live those tales , at least in dreams .
