I was previously using tata Sky DH service. I had the South Jumbo pack subscription which was costing around 360 for base package. I had the sports gold package and neo sports add on packages. All this was coming to around 420-440 range per month.
Around 3 months back Reliance Big TV had a promotion campane in our area. The set top box charges were around 1400 at a discounted rate for limited period. Big TV was ranning this event with the help of a firm called APPCO Marketing(India) Pvt Ltd. An executive called Shyam Tyagi(cell number 9620484246) visited my place and explained me the tarrif rates. The prices were much cheaper compared to TataSky and even the services seemed to be better in comparison to TataSKy. These included the MPEG4 picture quality, dedicated channel for cricket matches called Live cricket or something etc etc.
I was supposed to relocate to my new apartment which was nearing completion. I informed Shyam that I would be moving to a new apartment in 2 months time and might opt to take a connection then. Shyam told me that there are absolutely no charges for relocation in Big TV services. I can carry the remote and Set top box while relocating. I can inform the customer care and they’ll take care of shifting the dish without any extra cost.
I purchased the connection and everything was done within expected time as was told by Shyam with regards to installation and activation. The real problem started at the time of relocation. I called up the customer care to know the procedure for relocation. The first time I spoke to the executive, I had a problem in understanding his English. He spoke like a lower KG student was trying to communicate in English for the first time. He couldn’t answer some of my very basic queries and disconnected my call.
After few hours I called up again and was informed that it will cost me 700 INR rupees for the relocation. 350 for disconnection and 350 for reconnection. I was surprised and tried explaining to the agent what was told to me by Shyam. The agent clearly told me that there is no other way then paying the amount. I can save 350 by taking responsibility of dish, cable and set top box plus remote while moving out of current place and request only for reinstallation.
I knew immediately that I had fallen prey to Shyam’s false promises. I placed a request with Big TV for reinstallation alone. I have no problem with Big TV services. All I am concerned is with the false information provided by Shyam Tyagi on behalf of APPCO Pvt Ltd. I am going to take this up with both reliance Big TV as well as APPCO Marketing.
I tried calling Shyam Tyagi on his cell but he did not pick it up. I’ll give him benefit of doubt that I tried calling him bit late around 9:30 PM and update this article later if I get an apportunity to speak to him during day time. In the mean time if this person visits your place, I would suggest do not beleive him at any cost and verify each and every detail yourself before going ahead with the transaction. He’ll show you some nice pemphlates. Please ignore all of that and ask him to show it on the Reliance Big TV web site or confirm the same in his presence with the customer service.
