I had written a review on MS about Big TV earlier also about my research on Big TV. After much deliberation, I thought of checking out more details at the Reliance World outlet on Airport Road in Bangalore. The slaes agent didnt have much knowledge about the product. He had to refer to a PPT which he had, for details I was looking for. As far as installation is concerned, he told me that the SLA time is 72 hrs and he will ensure that it happens much earlier for me. I thought of purchasing it, but sadly he didnt have the stock at that time. He asked me to come the next day.
On Saturday, I went back to the Reliance world and asked the guy to give me a set-top box. He gave me one and told me to contact customer care for installation. As I had very bad time getting through to customer care, I asked him that he had told me the day before that he will personally get it done much faster. To this he totally denying having said anything like that. I was furious at the blatant lie this guy was saying, and thought not to purchase from this store.
I then went to the store on CMH Road. Here first of all no was free to talk. After waiting for 5-10 mins, I got to speak to a person. He again seem to have no details about Big TV. When asked about installation, he told me that it will take up to 7 days and I have to contact customer care. He was not even ready to guarantee installation in 7 days. At that point I thought it is better going for Tata Sky paying a bit more. At least it will be peace of mind.
In the evening, after trying for almost 1 hour, I got to CC, and there the person told me that installation would not take more than 24 hrs. Now it is very easy for these guys to say such a thing, because I obviously I cant track him down.
After all this my take is
The technology & no. of channels is better in Big TV than the competition.
Service, as always with Reliance ADA group, is pathetic.
The Reliance Worlds have no incentive to sell the product. They are providing information, just for the sake of it. One gets a feeling that this additional responsibility is just thrown upon them.
If the consumeri s not very price conscious, he should not go for Big TV. He will avoid all the harrassment that one has to go through in getting to their Customer care and following up.
I fail to understand why Reliance cant go with other dealers who are given responsibility of installation also. Atleast they will push the product and would bear the headache of installation, when Reliance seems to have so much of a man-power problem.
