I bought reliance big tv 4 months back and it is really a big headche. There is nothing good I can write about BIG TV. Starting from installation issue, performance, usability and most important their service. Not only that it has few bugs also which makes your life miserable.
BUGS:
a) On reliance Big TV remote select "select" button. It suppose to show you grid view of all the channels available in particular category like "Movies", "Entertainment", "News" etc. Initially it was working but after few software upgrades they did, it is stopped working and for last three months it is showing only "movies" option.
b)Select "Home" button on remote then "TV display" then select " preferred audio to "Hindi". Then also for channels like "Discovery", "National Geographic" though "Hindi" audio is available, it will select "English".
c) Though there is way of changing this to "Hindi", But as as soon as you move away from that channel and come back again, it will again be English. You have to again follow the steps. This IDIOT set up box can’t remember your preference.
Performance:
1) Even though it’s little bit cloudy or raining, you will lost the signal. I have fitted antenna on terrace and there are no big buildings around my house. I checked every time when I lost connection with other inmates in my building who uses another operator about their connectivity. I always found that at the same time they are getting proper connectivity.
2) It takes lots of time to load information about program. Also it takes lots of time to list programs in "guides". This make browsing channel extremely slow.
3)Not only that just check "how much time it takes to switch off " the set up box.
Customer Service:
1) on top of all this, their customer service is most pathetic I ever came across. You will never get there executives on line if you call on their toll free number. Story will be different if you call on paid number. Bet your fortune if you can find them on weekends.
2) These executives are not well educated about product and can’t answer your simple query properly. They keep repeating whatever they know. Irritating. Very irritating.
3) Process of activating particular channel is very tedious. You can’t simply SMS or go online and activate the channel. Instead you have to call on one of their number where they will just make you listen recorded message.
4) There is no way I can go and pay for single channel and activate it. All channels are not there on a la cart. for example I wanted just "NDTV good times", for that they are asking me to buy "Diamond pack" which cost 292 RS per month. What the hell!
Usability:
1) who has made that remote design. No "one click" button to browse through . Useless.
Guys this is not just emotional out burst. This Reliance big TV sucks. and this is enough evidence that lazy person like me, coming to office on weekend just to write this review. Just make informed choice.
