Shame on BigFlix - A complete Fraud!

Beware of BigFlix! I’m going through a really harrowing experience trying to cancel my subscription and getting my deposit(Rs.750) back.

It turns out BigFlix is a "Hotel California", you can check-in any time but you just cannot leave!

I subscribed to their Chennai service. At the end of one month, I wanted to cancel my subscription as my vacation was over. Here’s my experience dealing with these fraudsters.

  1. The web site has a link to cancel the subscription but when I click on it, a rude message "Not allowed to Cancel Subscription" is displayed.(?!).

  2. Called customer service and indicated that I wanted to cancel, the person proposed a "pause" in subscription. I told him clearly that I wasn’t interested in a pause, I wanted to Cancel and get my deposit of Rs.750 back. He asked me to return the one disc I had and then the web site would allow me to cancel.

  3. Sent a pick-up request for that DVD immediately. This request was sent on the last day of the one month period. No one showed up to pick up the DVD for 5 days.

  4. I used the "Contact Us" feature to file a complaint. Somebody from customer service called 2 days later. She sounded apologetic but said their processes and systems in Chennai were not fully operational and that they do not have a customer service center in Chennai. I asked, "Why did you launch the service in Chennai if you are not fully equipped to provide good service?" No answer. Clearly indicates greed and a total disregard for customer service.

  5. I reiterated my request to cancel my subscription to the lady who called me. She tried to persuade me to continue. When I gave her a very genuine reason(am on vacation from the US and going back to US) she said she would call me back the next day but never did.

  6. I now have no discs with me, yet the "Cancel Subscription" link still leads to the ghastly and rude "Not Allowed" message.

There are many genuine businesses who provide services with a great deal of integrity but just when my impression and perception of services in India was taking a positive turn, this experience has unfortunately led me back to view services in India with skepticism. If a big brand like BigFlix of the Reliance group stoops to such unforgivable lows, what hope do we have from other smaller providers?

SHAME on you BigFlix!

In a nutshell, they only seem to want your money, at any cost, with total disregard to integrity and business ethics.
