I am one of the customer of so called huge video rental chain-Bigflix. its got one year ever since I started my subscription with bigflix, as stated by medias this is the best measure to curb piracy!! even I agree with that to some extent as I was a huge movie buff, I enjoy everybit of the movie sitting in home watching it privately! infact a couple of years ago I was purchasing the pirated movies from bazaars and was spending lots of bugs on that, as I was not able to afford original dvd price(i, e., nearly 599-699) per movie I was happy with the pirated version which would be available within (40-60rs) among those best quality version dvd’s woulds cost(100-120rs).
That was the period when I was literally attracted towards the promo of bigflix and thought of giving it a try...i went to the store enrolled myself.. and got my first dvd .. I just got amazed by the service.. first I enrolled for 1-disc plan .. and the immediate next day I got switched over to 2-disc plan... and continued my service for some period and became addicted to it and shifted my plan to 3-disc monthly plan where I was renting the dvd’s everyday ... I saw the movies which I wanted to from a long time that on a original dvd ... with digitally restored sound and picture quality...
Excitement din’t last long.. as I spent time with movies... I just got work piled up like a mountain in other hand..... and in the mean while the recession hitting our company just made to work for extra hours.... and decided to stay away from Bigflix and planned to shift my plan to 1-disc and later exact nightmare started wheni was enrolling for the 3-disc plan I just payed 1000rs as refundable deposit when I switched to 1-disc the storekeeper informed me that I would get the partial amount refunded... when I just went to store to get the amount which was nearly 600rs.. they just handed over to me 350rs and asked to call customer care....
If you just have a look a the website you could see the huge list of regional movies in thier database mentioned as ’comingsoon’ that was the list seeing which I was impressed and thousght of getting into but even today I can see them in ’comingsoon’ list
In the mean while, if any thing happens to dvd which you have rented (if it breaks!) you have to pay them the complete dvd amount even if the dvd was scrathed to several layers and even if it is broken you have pay them the complete amount.....Bigflix store keepers are big lazy bugs.. if you ask for a dvd if he has come acrosswith the title he just says its there or else if you pronounce the move name which he never heard of he just says its not there with us even if that movie name exists in the site... they even don’t have the patience to check the movie for the customer.... the dvd’s that they deliver to home is most of the time completely damaged...you have to place a pickup request before one day to get dvd deliverd to your home......
My sincere advice to all movie buffs is that do not believe in rentals , if you are so interested go only for 1-disc plan... it makes you to get addicted and door-delivery is very harmful it can make you lazy better to go to store and checkout for the dvd’s ..... new movie dvd’s are never deliverd to home you have to personnally go to store... and pickup... instead spend your time in very useful way there are lot of work to do.... spend ur time in gym instead....
