Reality shows: “Its all about MONEY" honey

The large influx of so called reality shows on our idiot box these days provoke me to question the reality element of these shows. To me, the term “reality show” for these serials is a pure misnomer.

Will renowned artists like Saroj khan, or Anu malik fight cats and dogs on an open platform or for that matter little renowned artists like Ravi Kissan, or kashmira Shah,   will wash their dirty lenin in public? The logical answer to this question is a big NO.

No wonder these celebrities are given script beforehand so as to create an on screen ruckus and add masala to these serials. At the end of the day “controversy “sells. Do these celebrities not understand that their so called real behavior on screen will effect their fan following. How many of us will forgive Manav to have purchased 200 SIM cards to influence his voting?

All said and done, these shows have definitely succeeded in catching Indian public’s attention. What remains to be seen is how long can they sustain this attention?

Looking at it from a pure marketing point of view, people have started getting bored of K- series, they want something new. It’s a human tendency to get interested in other’s life and if it’s a chota mota celebrity then the interest doubles. Producers’ of these shows are just taking advantage of this behavior and the result is high TRP ratings with producers, actors, channel, cell phone companies all minting money.

Hence the golden rule remains golden even today : “na biwi na bachcha, na baap bada na miyya.. the whole thing is that ki bhaiya sabse bada rupiya”
