Bigg Boss: Rising TRP for Sony

BIGG BOSS, the Indian version of the international HIT , is being seen as a welcomed change from the teary-eyed saas and bahus(for the TV-holic breed ofcourse!)

The Bigg Boss started in novembe’06 by dictating the lives of 13 choosen celebreties with 28 cameras, who are being evicted by audience poll and internal nominations. The one who lasts, wins 50 Lakh rupees in cash prize. Arshad Warsi (aka Circuit) is the host of the show and is doing a fair job.

Bigg Boss has made the audience see the non-glamorous side of these celebrities, that is always talked about. This is promoted as an "unscripted" show, but in the Indian scenario, according to Arshad Warsi, MOST of the part is subjected to censor and editing. Still, you are sure to find Emotions and sentiments, Drama and Fun in the house of Bigg Boss. :)

The house of the Bigg Boss is somewhere in the outskirts of mumbai, is well equiped and comfortable. But hang on, that doesnt mean Bigg Boss has made it easy for the residents. :) There is absolutely no contact with the outside World - no Television, no mobile phones. The contestants do all the work(cleaning, cooking, Making budgets etc.) themselves. They are given regular tasks, like team games (like circus job) and collective work(like making furniture). Depending on these tasks, they are provided with a budget and sometimes gifts too(like microwave). Every week, each contestant nominates others for eviction in the privacy of the confession room.

The show is doing really well and the channel’s TRP’s are rising high. The reality show has recently given Rakhi Sawant a so called Wild Card entry again (where some people suggest it is a strategic move by Rajesh Kamath of Endemol, producer Bigg Boss, because the TRPs fell drastically after Rakhi was evicted). Rakhi, who is said to have cancelled a series of stage shows on the year end, is happy to be back to the "family entertainment channel on one-of its kind reality show". :)

For me, I like the idea of having her, and the consipiracies, bitching, pretending (wink), back as the show was a wee bit dull after the lovey dovey Aryan-Anupama left. Well, what a game. Lets see who hangs on till the end!! :)
