Movie is a waste of money and precious time

Coming after the super duper hit MANGATHA, there were sky high expectations from Billa 2. Talai Ajith is very much at home with the DON role and does a good job in a movie running on a wafer thin plot. In fact, in the 2 hour something movie, the only thing that makes you watch the movie till the end is Ajith. The director has used a lot of gloss, good locations and beautiful models to try and make the masala flick work. The leading ladies in the movie are expectedly only show-puppets for songs, few scenes since this is a hard core action flick. However, even Ajith’s rise from the downtrodden to the status of DON is not documented well and shown like snippets.

Regarding the music score, again there is not much to write about since there is not even 1 song that sticks to your mind as a melody or a super thump song. Yuvan needs to reinvent himself massively and produce new trendly songs to survive the next few years in the super talented tamil music and film industry. The background score through the movie however is better.

A lot of style quotient is provided in the movie but a great plot and storyline could have done wonders to this big budgeted movie. It is a disappointment for there were high hopes just seeing Ajith associated with it. Of course, hard core fans wouldn’t mind a wafer thin storyline if they see their idol beat up the baddies as a baddie which Ajith does with aplomb in this movie. BILLA2 could have been much much better because of the potential it carried till the end, however, that didn’t convert in reality.
