I happened to visit Bangladesh recently. I had to travel in Bhiman Airways flight from Calcutta to Dhaka. Though the flight duration is less than half an hour, it could be worse than your nightmare.
I learnt that the same flight (perhaps one of the oldest ) shuttles 4 times in a period of 5 hours and hence it is regularly late.
I finished the emigration formalities and manually identified the luggage before they loaded it in the flight. (isnt it strange). The flight was cramped and the old style top open overhead luggage bin was full of cockroaches and half of them were dumped with luggage of cabin crew and cosumables like tissues / disposables etc. So half the passengers had to keep their luggage on their lap.
The A/C was horrible and all the passesgers were sweating and fanning themselves. The toilet was stinking. As the flight taxied to the runway, it came to a sudden halt and this horrified all the passengers. The flight took off and landed after a bumpy ride without a single announcement. (can you believe it).
I had a similar experience on return journey also. I would like to advice all the readers who plan a trip to Bangladesh to use Air India flight which is the only alternative. The people who are criticising Indian Airlines and Air India would change their opinion if they happen to fly Bhiman.
